A six-piece band from Krakow who love blaxploitation films and 70s funk. Their work also draws on jazz and oriental music, and they mainly compose their own instrumental pieces. Their concerts offer energetic grooves, jazz improvisations, powerful vocals, and atmospheric compositions.
A young and progressive jazz-electronic band from Wrocław, formed in 2022. The members — saxophonist Adam Bławicki, bassist and synth bassist Rafał Krzywosz, keyboardist and producer Filip Miguła, and drummer Dawid Opaliński — combine traditional jazz instruments with electronics and rhythms borrowed from minimal techno, trance, and drum ‘n’ bass. Their debut EP, Sprawy (2024), offers six tracks that draw listeners into a world where lively saxophone solos, hypnotic bass lines, atmospheric synthesizer pads, and dynamic percussion intertwine. Each track is an emotional and physical experience that pushes the boundaries of modern jazz towards dance and experimental positions. Reviewers appreciate the dramatic gradations and rich textures, as well as the bold alternation of dark and light moods, for example in the tracks Bipolar and MCS. The album is praised for its original approach, high level of instrumental performance, and precise production. Sedno’s work expands the language of jazz toward electronica and ethnic inspirations, resulting in music that is technically sophisticated, yet danceable and emotionally powerful.
The Essential Funk Trombone is a band that embodies the essence of pure instrumental funk with a distinctive and eclectic approach. The band’s name reflects their musical philosophy, which focuses on the fundamentals of funk—syncopated rhythms, deep bass, sharp guitar, and a combination of genres. Although their music is firmly rooted in classic funk, it also incorporates elements of jazz, punk, rock, metal, and disco, creating a dynamic and ever-evolving sound. The horn section, especially the trombone, plays a major role and often comes across as bold and dominant. Other instruments, such as the saxophone and guitar, complement the rhythm section and add unique textures and flavors to the music, including a subtle oriental influence.
