In Poland, during the interwar period, improvised music and jazz became a medium of multi-layered messages, providing numerous memorable works of art. Polish Jazz 1918 – 2018, a project lead by Club Firlej from Wrocław, invited consequently avant-garde young artists to interpret tradition in a visionary way thanks to their creativity and imagination.
We will experience non-generic, modern interpretations of classic songs from the 30’s performed by the phenomenal Jazz Band Młynarski Masecki, get mesmerized by Ircha Clarinet Trio and dazzled by the first time ever collaborative performance of Mikołaj Trzaska & Petr Vrba.
„Jazz Band Młynarski-Masecki is a miracle!“
That’s what the press says. At Jazz Dock you can find out for yourselves. This is a join project of the most acclaimed pianist Martin Masecki and a percussionist and singer Jan Emil Młynarski. Together they are reviving the old tradition of Polish interwar jazz orchestras while not hesitating to break conventions or throw a crazy free jazz improvisation.
Jazz Dock’s getting mesmerized the same night by the clarinet trio of Mikołaj Trzaska with their original compositions and magical songs. Those originate from various Central European and Near-Eastern traditions that invoke memories and a picturesque atmosphere of the diverse and attractive world of the interwar Poland.
A collaboration of two figures with very interesting history & background. Mikołaj Trzaska is a legend of the Polish impro scene – composer, saxophonist and bass clarinetist. Petr Vrba is widely recognised for his experiments in free improvisation in which he uses a trumpet, clarinet, vibrating speakers and various found items. For the first time ever, they will perform together at this special event!
The project has been realized in the frame of the Cultural Bridges grant scheme of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, as part of its 2017–2021 long-term program NIEPODLEGŁA (Independent).

▶︎ BRAN ◀︎

Skupina Los Carlos vznikla kolem mladého a talentovaného kytaristy „Carlita” (Karel Vlasák ml.).

Originally a jazz drummer affirms his love for club culture and smart electronics, blending jazz with drum’n’bass to broken beats to dubstep and more. All combined with Richard’s unique subtle style, which has made him a sought-after performer around the world, and great collaborations with other performers to ensure the album´s complexity and diversity. So that the album is not “Me, Me, Just Me”.
Richard Spaven has collaborated and performed with many excellent artists including Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra, Gregory Porter, Jameszoo, Goldie, Thundercat and many more. Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t mean to hurt your feelings, but who can say that?
Richard performs with guitarist Stuart McCallum who is best known for his collaboration with the nu-jazz Cinematic Orchestra, and bassist Robin Mullarkey who has performed with Natalie Williams, Roisin Murphy or John Newman. As our programme curator Adam says, they are also a pretty big deal!
The “1759 Outro” song from the 5ives EP was featured on Grand Theft Auto V.

Killer driving groove, infectious melodies and moods – the jazz-rock’n’roll formation The Rad Trads from New York in a nutshell.
With their unmistakable punk energy, however, they do not hesitate to spice things up with blues or other genres. They are mainly having fun and you can definitely tell! No boredom guaranteed.
When The Rad Trads formed in the spring of 2012, they were making rent playing their crazy 4-hour gigs in every bar in New York and Brooklyn that would have them. Six years later, they dominate every club with their punk-rock energy, showmanship and four captivating lead vocalists.
The band is slated to release their new, second LP this Spring. The record is highly anticipated in its creative direction and sound.
